Built in 1905 at the heart of East Durham’s original business district, our iconic two-story building has always been a community anchor. Over the century, these walls have lived many lives—housing the historic offices of the Durham Cotton Manufacturing Co., welcoming the Salvation Army, and serving as the home of Garland Woodcraft, whose legacy of local craftsmanship inspires our name today.
Today, this campus is constantly evolving and improving daily. Reimagined as a dynamic gathering space to celebrate Durham's culture, we are proud to be part of a growing neighborhood and community. Whether you’re making pottery at Claymakers, or enjoying legendary flavor from Dame’s Chicken & Waffles, Garland Hall sits at the epicenter of East Durham's exciting new chapter.

Booking & Reservation Policy:
To officially secure a date at Garland Hall, we require a 50% deposit and a signed contract. Please note that dates cannot be held or reserved without both, the completed deposit and signed agreement.

"We recently threw our daughter’s Sweet 16 at The Garland Hall and oh my gosh, it was amazing! If you're looking for a spot that is cool enough to impress a room full of teenagers but won't stress you out, this is IT.
The layout is so spacious—we had tons of tables set up for food and sitting, and there was STILL a massive amount of room left over for a huge dance floor. The kids literally danced the entire night away. Also, if your teen is obsessed with pictures like mine is, this place has the best aesthetic. There were so many perfect photo ops around the room for their Instagram and TikTok shots! Parking was a total breeze for all the parents dropping off, and the venue staff made the whole booking process so easy. Our daughter had the absolute best time. Thank you, Garland Hall, for making us the coolest parents ever for a night!

"We recently hosted a boutique fashion show at The Garland Hall, and it was a phenomenal experience! Booking this venue was actually a last-minute decision after we unexpectedly lost our original space right before the show. We were in a total panic, but the team at Garland Hall stepped right in and made it incredibly easy to pivot. They were so supportive that the team even showed up to help us physically set up the space to make sure we had the best experience possible! They truly helped us pull off a flawless event without skipping a beat. Finding a venue that offers a high-end, high-fashion aesthetic on short notice—and without a massive price tag—is nearly impossible, but Garland Hall delivered on every level. The space is absolutely stunning; the historical character provided us the perfect, dramatic runway look right out of the box. We were able to set up a gorgeous runway down the center with rows of their included black wood folding chairs and still had plenty of room for a lively cocktail reception area. While there isn't an official dressing room on-site, the kitchen and storage area served the purpose perfectly for our models and styling team to use as a private backstage changing space. Our guests loved how easy parking was. If you are a designer, creative, or event planner looking for a gorgeous canvas and a team that will truly have your back, The Garland Hall is an absolute hidden gem!

THE ABSOLUTE PERFECT VENUE FOR OUR DREAM WEDDING!!!
"I can’t say enough amazing things about our wedding at The Garland Hall—it was the best experience from start to finish! Plus, as a Durham native, it felt so special to get married right here in Old East Durham. If you want a spot that balances local history with a cool, modern vibe, this is definitely it.
We had a fully seated reception with about 95 guests, and the layout was just perfect. The venue already includes tables and these beautiful black wood folding chairs, which saved us so much rental stress. We also spent some time outside, and the backdrop of the courtyard made the most perfect spot for all of our wedding photos!
Honestly, we were a little nervous about the parking situation at first, but in the end, it worked out completely fine and wasn't an issue at all for our guests. Our vendors also loved having the kitchen/prep room to work out of.
This campus is just awesome....when we had a sudden last-minute need for extra ice, the staff over at Dame's Chicken and Waffles were total angels and so incredibly friendly helping us out! It really showed how great the community is here.
Garland Hall gave us the wedding of our dreams—10/10 recommend!"
